Accidental Damage Protection
Overview
Rent Club offers optional Accidental Damage Protection at checkout to provide peace of mind against certain types of damage that may occur during your rental period.
This protection covers up to $300 per order towards the cost of repair or replacement of eligible items.
Cost
The cost of Accidental Damage Protection varies depending on the value of your order. Higher-value items will incur a higher protection fee, reflecting the increased replacement cost.
What’s Covered
Accidental Damage Protection applies to unintentional, one-off incidents that occur during normal wear, including:
- Stains that cannot be removed or require specialist cleaning
- Small tears, broken seams, or faulty zips
- Detached embellishments such as sequins, beads, or jewels
What’s Not Covered
Accidental Damage Protection does not cover damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or failure to take reasonable care of the garment.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Carelessness or Reckless Behaviour
- Extensive staining (e.g. multiple stains or staining across large areas)
- Dragging garments on the ground, through mud, dirt, or dirty surfaces
- Damage caused in situations where harm was reasonably avoidable
Foreseeable Damage
- Damage caused by jewellery, bags, or accessories catching on garments
- Wearing heavily embellished accessories that may snag fabrics
Alterations

Any attempt to alter, pin, or modify the garment (temporary or permanent)
Cosmetic Products

Stains or damage caused by fake tan, makeup, or similar products
Loss
- Failure to return the item for any reason, including loss or theft
- Items lost in transit where there is no proof of lodgement or tracking (note that if this evidence exists, you won't be held liable)
If damage is determined to be deliberate, reckless, or due to failure to take reasonable care, the protection will be void and you will be responsible for all associated repair or replacement costs.
Claim Process
- For minor wear (e.g. small marks or loose threads), simply return the item as normal - no action is required.
- For significant damage, please contact us at hello@rentclub.au as soon as possible.
- You may be asked to provide clear photos of the damage.
- Even when an item is damaged beyond repair, it must still be returned by the return date for our booking.
Important:
- Do not attempt to wash, dry clean, repair, or alter the item yourself.
- Return the item as-is using the provided prepaid satchel.
- If any parts (e.g. fabric, beads, or embellishments) have detached, please include them in the return parcel.
Change of Mind
- Accidental Damage Protection is non-refundable once purchased.
- If your entire order is cancelled, the protection fee will also be refunded.
- If you forgot to add protection at checkout, you may request to add it after placing your order by contacting hello@rentclub.au (subject to approval and payment).
